Estée Lauder Vérité Special Eye Care / Review

I was having an allergic reaction and extreme dryness due to another eye product when I purchased Estée Lauder Vérité Special Eye Care, a bland and very basic gel-creme moisturizer. The price? $54.00!

What it does, instantly comforts and hydrates the gentle skin around the eyes just as stated on Estée Lauder's website. Well it is a gentle formula with no fragrance. Light, it penetrates quickly so you can use it in the morning under makeup with no issue.

The claims...

Anti-aging ingredients that visibly reduce lines and wrinkles, now and in the future. At first glance, looking at the list of ingredients I couldn't figure out which one would have anti-aging effects so I asked my friend Laura, who has a little more experience for her opinion and her response was "Nothing, Nada, Zippo!"

Puffiness and dark circles look less obvious. I don't have dark circles but once in a while I do get a little puffiness. This didn't help at all. See my tips to avoid and treat puffy eyes here.

Would I recommend Estée Lauder Vérité Special Eye Care? Yes and no!

Yes because it does provide good basic moisture and works well under makeup. Good for those with a sensitive eye area. I do love the tube which is not only much more hygienic than jars but also easier to use.

No for the claims. I've used it for about a year with no visible difference, alternating with Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair for eyes. Also if your eye area is extremely dry this may not be enough, especially for night time use.

Finally the price! $54.00 CAD for a basic moisturizer is a bit much. At least at the time of purchase I did get a gift with purchase.
